US President Donald Trump says the US is reinstating its blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and will start charging for ships from elsewhere to transit through it.
The announcement came before the US military said it had resumed strikes on Iran, following a weekend in which the US and Iran traded missile strikes against targets in the region.

Two UAE tankers hit by Iranian missiles
One crew member has been killed, of Indian nationality, and eight injured after Iranian missiles struck two UAE national tankers in the southern Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE Ministry of Defence said fires broke out on both tankers but had been brought under control.
The tankers were in Omani territorial waters, according to the ministry.
It condemned the attack as a serious breach of international law and said the UAE retained its full right to respond and take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security.
