Wanted PLFI member arrested in Khunti, weapons seized

Ranchi: A wanted member of the proscribed People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was arrested from Gambharia village in Khunti district on Saturday. He was identified as Rajendra Sahu, alias Rajendra Sao, 42.Khunti SP Rishabh Garg told media persons on Sunday that police received information about Sahu’s visit to his home. A special team led by Torpa subdivisional police officer Vijay Kumar Singh raided the village and arrested him. Police seized a country-made pistol and seven cartridges from him.The SP said, “Sahu was actively rebuilding PLFI in the district. He was involved in several criminal incidents in the recent past, including firing at the gas godown in Torpa and the railway site in Karra area.”Police said seven cases were registered against Sahu at different police stations, including two each at Torpa, Murhu and Karra police stations and one at Khunti police station. Several of the cases relate to the Arms Act and Criminal Law Amendment Act.Officers said PLFI has been trying to re-establish its presence in Khunti district, while police continue operations to curb its activities. In the past three months, Khunti police have apprehended 19 PLFI members and seized at least 7 weapons from them. Police said all top leaders of the outfit are behind bars. Police added that whenever PLFI members are released on bail, they try to rebuild the outfit in the district.
