Bengaluru: Actor Prakash Raj Friday appeared before a city court and secured conditional bail after it issued a non-bailable warrant against him in connection with a case alleging that he possessed multiple voter ID cards. The court had issued a second non-bailable warrant on June 12 after Raj failed to respond to the earlier warrant issued on April 17.The case stems from a private complaint filed by city-based advocate Dilip Kumar, who alleged that Raj possessed four voter ID cards — one each in Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu — in violation of the Election Commission of India’s rule permitting only one voter ID per person.Raj’s counsel submitted that the earlier summons had not reached the actor. They said they became aware of the proceedings only through media reports and added that Raj’s name has since been deleted from the voter list in Tamil Nadu. The court granted him conditional bail on furnishing a surety of Rs 4,000.
