Hyderabad: City police commissioner VC Sajjanar on Friday said that an average of ₹1 crore is lost per day by victims of cyber crime in Hyderabad. He mentioned this while speaking during a national round table on Digital Trust & Citizen Protection organised by The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), in association with Hyderabad police.“Mule accounts and ghost SIMs are the lifeline of cybercrime networks. Breaking it is a challenge before the authorities and it requires coordinated effort from different agencies like banks, telecom operators, regulators and law enforcement agencies,’’ Sajjanar said.He asked the victims to approach the police at the earliest, so that there will be a high probability of freezing the lost money.“India has the unique distinction of being one of the world’s most digitally connected nations, recording nearly 25 billion digital financial transactions. At the same time, more than 10,000 cyber fraud cases are being reported every day. This challenge requires urgent and coordinated action,” said Pankaj Diwan, co-chair, FTCCI ICT committee.
