From balancing demanding shifts as a railway ticket collector (TC) to standing on the podium at an international championship, Aadarsh has transformed years of quiet perseverance into a breakthrough season that has put him firmly on India’s athletics map.

Breakthrough season puts Aadarsh in the spotlight

The 28-year-old announced himself on the continental stage in February when he won the bronze medal at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China. Clearing 2.19 metres under pressure, Aadarsh became the first Indian male high jumper to win a medal at the Asian Indoor Championships, creating a slice of history for Indian athletics.His impressive run continued on the domestic circuit. At the Indian Athletics Series S6 in Chennai, Aadarsh produced a lifetime best jump of 2.27 metres, comfortably surpassing the Athletics Federation of India’s qualification standard for both the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.The performance earned him gold, propelled him to World No. 35 in the men’s high jump rankings, and cemented his place among India’s top field athletes.Earlier in the season, he had also cleared 2.23 metres to finish runner-up at the Indian Open Series in Bengaluru, underlining the remarkable consistency that has defined his breakout year.

Commonwealth Games Debut Beckons

The 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will mark Aadarsh Ram’s first appearance at the prestigious multi-sport event. He is expected to represent India in the men’s high jump alongside national record holder Sarvesh Anil Kushare.
