SIR drive crosses 83% mark in Kodagu, Mysuru

Madikeri/ Mysuru/ Mandya: The special intensive revision (SIR) of the voters’ list has been progressing briskly in Kodagu district despite the rain, with over 83.2% of voters covered as of Thursday, according to authorities.Booth-level officers (BLOs) at 552 polling booths in Madikeri and Virajpet constituencies began door-to-door visits on June 30, distributing SIR forms. The two constituencies have a total of 4,68,657 voters. Of these, BLOs have distributed 3,90,070 forms through door-to-door visits.In Madikeri constituency, 2,09,781 forms have been distributed, and in Virajpet constituency, 1,80,289 forms have been distributed, said deputy commissioner SJ Somashekar, who is also the district electoral officer.During the drive, it was found that 275 voters were deceased, and 42 voters had their names in two assembly segments.Nearly 24 lakh forms distributed in MysuruSIR of the 2026 electoral roll is progressing steadily across Mysuru district, with officials achieving 83.9% distribution of enumeration forms as of July 8.Of the district’s 27,99,693 registered voters, a total of 23,49,006 enumeration forms have been distributed across 2,915 polling stations.The revision exercise has recorded significant progress at the booth level, with 927 polling stations (31.8%) completing 100% distribution of forms, while another 726 polling stations (24.9%) have crossed the 90% distribution mark. In addition, 11,419 voters have submitted their forms independently through the online portal, reflecting growing public participation in the revision process. So far, 1,13,643 forms have also been digitised.Mandya holds review meetingDeputy election commissioner Sanjay Kumar on Thursday directed officials in Mandya district to ensure that the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls is carried out in a transparent, accurate and time-bound manner.He issued the instructions while chairing a review meeting with the district election officer, electoral registration officers and other election officials at the deputy commissioner’s office.
