Grammar of Seeing: A Retrospective of Becoming, a major solo exhibition by noted Indian modernist Ratan Parimoo, will be on view from June 23 to July 31, 2026, at Galerie Splash in Sector 53, Golf Course Road. Curated by Satyajit Dave, the exhibition brings together a significant body of work spanning decades, offering insight into Parimoo’s evolving artistic practice. Widely recognised as an artist, educator, and art historian, Parimoo has been a key figure in shaping the discourse of Indian modern art.

Moving beyond a conventional retrospective format, the exhibition is anchored in the idea of “becoming,” exploring how the artist’s visual language has transformed over time. While his approach has evolved, it remains rooted in sustained inquiry into colour, form, perception, and memory. The show highlights recurring themes in Parimoo’s work, alongside shifts in technique and structure that mark different phases of his career. Through this, it presents a layered understanding of his engagement with abstraction, narrative, and philosophical thought.

Curator Satyajit Dave frames the exhibition as a dialogue between the artwork and the viewer, encouraging deeper engagement with the artist’s ideas and processes. The presentation also underscores Parimoo’s continuing relevance within contemporary Indian art. The exhibition is open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and entry is free.
