Rain lashes parts of Delhi-NCR; IMD issues yellow alert

NEW DELHI: Rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Wednesday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds across the region over the next five days.IMD has issued a Yellow alert for July 8 and 9. During this period, Delhi is expected to witness a generally cloudy sky, intermittent light rain, isolated spells of moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph. Another spell of rain is also likely during the night.For July 9, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds during the morning and forenoon, followed by another spell of very light to light rain at night.The alert level will be lowered to Green (No Warning) on July 10 and 11. However, the weather department said cloudy conditions are expected to continue, with the possibility of very light to light rain, thunderstorms and lightning during the forenoon or afternoon on both days. Residents have been advised to remain alert, especially during thunderstorms and periods of strong winds over the next three days.
