Don’t panic if details are not found in 2002 rolls, says Hyderabad district election officer
Leave the earlier sections blank and furnish their present details in the form, the DEO told voters

Hyderabad: Amid confusion over filling enumeration forms as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Hyderabad district election officer (DEO) RV Karnan said voters need not panic if they are unable to find their details or those of their parents in the 2002 electoral roll.He asked voters to leave the earlier sections blank and furnish their present details in the form.“The voter enumeration exercise is primarily aimed at linking eligible voters with the 2002 electoral roll. If neither the voter nor their parents or grandparents were part of the 2002 electoral roll, they can leave the earlier sections blank and furnish only their present details,” he told TOI.He explained that if a voter’s name is found in the 2002 electoral roll, it is presumed that the person’s parents were also likely to have been enrolled. For voters who were underage in 2002 or whose names were not part of the electoral roll then, the linkage can instead be established using the electoral details of their parents or grandparents, either from the maternal or paternal side, provided they were enrolled in the 2002 roll.Karnan added that to help voters who are unsure where they or their family members were enrolled in 2002, the details can be searched online through the national voter portal. “The search facility is available across the country and is not limited to Telangana,” he added.Karnan appealed to all voters to complete, sign, and submit the enumeration form to their respective BLOs without delay. “Those who are unable to submit the form because of travel, illness or hospitalisation and subsequently find their names missing from the draft roll can submit a fresh application before the final electoral roll is published,” he said, adding that BLOs will assist non-Telugu-speaking voters in filling the Telugu forms.
