Pune: Two constables attached to the Faraskhana police station have been booked for allegedly extorting Rs 2,000 from a technician (24) employed at an eatery on the Pune-Solapur Highway by threatening to implicate him, and his two friends, in a criminal case.The incident occurred in the Budhwar Peth area on July 29. Police registered the case on Saturday night.Senior inspector Sandeep Deshmane of the Faraskhana police said, “The technician and his two friends visited Shaniwar Wada and later went to the Budhwar Peth area. At around 11.30pm, they reached a naka bandi point. They were stopped by two constables who arrived on a motorcycle. The constables asked the trio to produce identity proof.”“The three friends showed digital copies of their Aadhaar cards, after which the constables seized their phones. They threatened to register a case against them, took the complainant to a woman, and forced him to transfer Rs 2,000 to her account,” he said.After the incident, the complainant and his two friends hired a cab to return to Hadapsar. During the journey, they narrated the incident to the cab driver, who recorded a video of their account and uploaded it on social media. The video surfaced on the internet and came to the attention of senior police officers, following which a case was registered against the two constables.After receiving the money, the two constables allowed the complainant and his friends to leave.
