Temple burgled, cash & jewellery worth Rs 75L stolen

Berhampur: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted cash and gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs from the goddess Kali temple at Galley in Ganjam district late on Saturday. The miscreants broke open the temple’s locks and looted gold weighing around 400gm and 5-6kg of silver ornaments besides some other valuable items.They also broke the locks on the donation box and stole cash. The miscreants took away CCTV cameras installed in the temple. The cash and items looted would be worth around Rs 75 lakh, temple priest Kanhu Charan Satapathy claimed.Subhalaxmi Parida, IIC, Tarsingi police station said a forensic team and police dog squad are part of the investigation. “We are trying to identify and apprehend the miscreants,” the IIC said.
