A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car driven by a woman known to him, police say.
Tasmania Police said a woman, 25, drove a white station wagon “at speed into the front yard of a house in Bounty Street”, Warrane on Hobart’s eastern shore at 1:12am today, “striking a 29-year-old man”.
“The woman and man are known to each other,” police said in a statement.
“The man was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.
“The woman is in custody as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.”
Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call them on 131 444, or to contact Crime Stoppers.
