Jake Dennis is just one race away from determining the fate of his Formula E season. The Andretti driver is now second in the title race after finishing second in the opening race of the London E-Prix. He is just five points behind Pascal Wehrlein, who jumped from third to the top of the championship standings. Dennis said after the race that he was expecting the nail-biting title battle to go down to the grand finale in London.
Jake Dennis opens up on London podium
After the race, Jake Dennis shared a series of pictures from the podium celebrations on Instagram and wrote: “P2! Achieved the absolute maximum today with all the games going on. We survived well and kept it clean. All to play for tomorrow.”Dennis said after his podium finish: “Honestly, I’m really happy with how we executed that as a team, as myself. I think, honestly, P2 was the maximum today. Once I got past Dan [Ticktum] eventually, obviously it was quite an easy race from there on in. Me and Pascal [Wehrlein], we were quite similar with our energy, but I think we had a fair few things thrown at us with Nico [Müller] slowing down, but honestly, we’re in the hunt for tomorrow. I just hope it’s a fair fight tomorrow. I mean, it’s win it or bin it, really. How Jake Dennis won London E-Prix Part 1
During the London E-Prix Round 16 race on Saturday, Jake Dennis was among several drivers to pit during the Full Course Yellow. He saved his final Attack Mode activation for late in the race and fought his way from the edge of the top six to finish second at the chequered flag. He made key overtakes on António Félix da Costa and Dan Ticktum to finish second in the Round 16 race.Heading into the Round 17 race on Sunday, three drivers remain in contention for the Championship title.
