COIMBATORE: Mettupalayam-Coimbatore/Podanur MEMU trains are now running with 12 cars as Southern Railway has augmented the trains with four additional cars with effect from Monday.Train Nos. 66611/66612 (Mettupalayam-Podanur-Mettupalayam), 66613/66614 (Mettupalayam-Coimbatore-Mettupalayam), 66615/66616 (Mettupalayam-Podanur-Mettupalayam), 66617/66618 (Mettupalayam-Coimbatore-Mettupalayam) and 66619/66620 (Mettupalayam-Podanur-Mettupalayam) have got 12 cars.The coach augmentation follows representations from commuters and various passenger forums seeking increased carrying capacity on the busy route. The MEMU trains are particularly crowded during the morning and evening peak hours.
