AMC cancels Jaya-Parvati Vrat events at Riverfront, Kankaria
Ahmedabad: In view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of extremely heavy rainfall across Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat over the next few days, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has cancelled special arrangements planned for women and girls observing Jaya-Parvati Vrat. Acting on instructions from mayor Hitesh Barot, AMC withdrew the special night-time facilities that were to be provided at Sabarmati Riverfront and Kankaria Lake for devotees observing the vrat. With heavy rainfall forecast for Friday and Saturday, AMC has also decided to keep all city gardens and lakes closed to visitors.
