He added that the district administration was making all possible efforts to complete digitisation of electoral rolls within the revised deadline of Aug 3. “The process is progressing smoothly. Nearly 90% of voter details have already been digitised, and the administration is working to complete the remaining work within the stipulated timeline,” he said. While overall progress has been encouraging, some BLOs reported difficulties in collecting enumeration forms from certain voters. “We are reaching out to some voters multiple times, but they are still not submitting their forms. Around 65 forms are still pending in my area despite repeated visits,” said one BLO.Acknowledging such pendencies across various areas, the election commission extended the period for door-to-door verification by 10 days, giving field staff additional time to contact remaining voters and complete the verification process.Several residents visiting the camps said they had been unable to locate some of their details in accordance with the 2003 SIR lists and had come to seek assistance. Many continued to stream into the booth camps to update their addresses, while others sought information about obtaining new voter cards. Election officials clarified that address changes would be processed after completion of door-to-door verification. As per the revised election schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on Aug 13, 2026, following the verification exercise. Claims and objections regarding inclusion, deletion, or correction of voter details can be filed between Aug 13 and Sept 12, 2026. These will be disposed of by Oct 8, while the final electoral roll will be published on Oct 12, 2026.Ludhiana district currently has 26.8 lakh registered voters, comprising 14.1 lakh male voters, 12.6 lakh women voters, and 135 third-gender voters.
