Bhubaneswar: To attract more commuters to Ama Bus and encourage a shift towards public transport, Comprehensive Region Urban Transport (Crut) has prepared an extensive public outreach and awareness plan focused on strengthening commuter engagement and promoting the benefits of bus travel.According to a recently issued tender, the Crut intends to launch sustained campaigns highlighting Ama Bus as a clean, modern, safe and reliable mode of transport. The initiative aims to build greater public appreciation of how public transport can reduce traffic congestion and contribute to a cleaner urban environment.Officials plan to create awareness among different sections of society, including women, students, professionals and regular commuters, while helping new users understand how to use the bus service effectively.

The focus will also be on communicating features and facilities available to passengers and encouraging residents to choose public transport.As part of the exercise, the Crut plans to carry out extensive outreach programmes in educational institutions, govt offices, corporate establishments, residential colonies, shopping malls and slum areas. The objective is to directly engage with potential users, address their concerns and promote the advantages of using Ama Bus for daily travel.The agency also proposes to strengthen its presence across traditional and digital media platforms through regular dissemination of passenger information, success stories and service updates. Special emphasis will be placed on engaging commuters through social media, collecting feedback and responding promptly to public grievances.“We have plans to document commuter experiences, conduct surveys and showcase stories highlighting the impact of public transport on urban mobility. The initiative is expected to help us better understand passenger needs and improve services based on public feedback,” a senior Crut official said.Sources said the larger goal is not only to increase ridership but also to build a stronger public transport culture in the capital region by making citizens active stakeholders in the system’s growth and improvement. “The city bus service is really good. However, there is always scope for improvement,” said Ankita Hota, a daily commuter.
