Ramjhol 4.0 returns with three days of culture, craft and conversations

Kolkata is set to celebrate the city’s artistic spirit as KCC Ramjhol 4.0 returns from July 30 to August 1 at the Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC). Bringing together visual arts, music, dance, theatre, literature, crafts and food under one roof, this year’s edition promises an immersive cultural experience spread across workshops, performances, exhibitions and interactive sessions.The three-day festival opens with a line-up that includes school engagement programmes, storytelling sessions, sugar art demonstrations and live performances ranging from Hindustani classical music to Bharatanatyam. Visitors can also explore the KCC Ramjhol Signature Attractions, including an art and craft exhibition, a photography exhibition by Mala Mukherjee, and Swarn Rekhachit, an exhibition showcasing scrolls and storytelling traditions.Day two shifts the focus to dance, literature and regional folk traditions. The programme features creative dance performances, a panel discussion on tales from the city, workshops by Rajasthan artists, Baul music, a seminar on Bengal’s folk songs and a musical performance by Sourendro-Soumyojit.The festival concludes with community experiences, pottery and craft demonstrations, literary discussions, musical workshops, and a conversation exploring whether food is “art or bad habit”. The finale will feature music by Rana Basu and Kabir, blending poetry with live performance.Ahead of the festival, KCC has also curated a series of pre-event workshops from July 21 to 28, including creative writing, Madhubani and Warli art, block printing, theatre, photography, and storytelling sessions for children.Designed as a celebration of creativity across generations, Ramjhol 4.0 aims to bring together established artists, emerging practitioners and curious audiences for three days of learning, dialogue and cultural exchange.
