Man charged with murder after allegedly setting father on fire at Glenmore Park

A man who allegedly set his father on fire and left him to die outside a home in Sydney’s west has been charged with murder.

Emergency services extinguished a small fire at a property on Wargon Crescent in Glenmore Park just before 1am on Thursday, with the body of a man discovered at the scene.

Police said the 64-year-old had multiple injuries across his body, including significant burns.

The man’s 36-year-old son was arrested about 6:45am in Werrington on Thursday and was taken to Nepean Hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

He was then taken to Penrith Police Station, where he was charged with murder (DV).

He has been refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Friday.

Police on Thursday said the 36-year-old was well-known to authorities, and there was no history of domestic violence between the two men.
