DISHA meeting revives pending road projects in Trichy

Trichy: Members of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) on Tuesday discussed the pending road projects and key link roads to develop new connectivity and decongest vehicular traffic in Trichy city.“The Kollidam flood bank road connecting the Srirangam temple, Butterfly Conservatory, and residential settlements is partially damaged. The entire stretch should be widened, and road redevelopment work must be taken up at the earliest to benefit people,” said MP Durai Vaiko, who chaired the meeting at the district collectorate.Members also reviewed the delayed elevated road projects from the Head Post Office junction to Puthur via MGMGH and Odathurai to Mallachipuram via Chathiram bus terminus and Kalaignar Arivalayam.On UGD projects, the MP sought revised timelines for commissioning phases II, III, and IV. He also urged the urban local body and relevant authorities to ensure the safety of workers following fatal accidents at project sites.National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was directed to provide an update on illuminating the dimly lit stretches of Trichy-Madurai NH passing through Mannarpuram and Panjapur areas. The status of an additional entrance proposed for Thiruverumbur railway station from Ezhil Nagar Road was also reviewed. The MP sanctioned ₹18.5 lakh from his constituency development fund to relocate an anganwadi centre to facilitate the new access.
