Patna: Just days after a youth from Munger district was arrested over alleged cross-border links, another arrest was made in the state on Monday in connection with a suspected Pakistan-based terror network, prompting heightened vigilance among security agencies.Mohammad Ahad (22), a resident of Musapur village under Koda police station area in Katihar district, was arrested by the police on the basis of specific intelligence inputs. Police said the accused was taken into custody and questioned before being formally arrested in connection with his alleged links to a Pakistan-based terror network.SDPO (Sadar-II), Katihar, Sunil Kumar Sharma, said Koda police received confidential information that Ahad, was allegedly involved in anti-national and terrorist-related activities. Acting on the input, Katihar superintendent of police Parichay Kumar constituted a special team, which apprehended the accused.“During the investigation, it was found that Ahad was allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based handlers and was planning to execute a major incident in the country. Based on these allegations, he was formally arrested. Teams from Intelligence Bureau (IB), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Special Branch also assisted in the operation. Koda police registered a case on Monday, and the investigation is continuing from all angles,” Sharma said.According to police, a technical analysis of the accused’s mobile phone and social media accounts revealed that he was allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based gangster Rana Danish alias Rana Ehsan, who is stated to have links with a Pakistan-backed terror network. During the investigation, police also found that the accused was allegedly using social media platforms to share anti-national content, circulate information related to sensitive locations and promote material linked to terrorist activities.Police further alleged that the accused had shared links of Pakistan-based social media channels, disseminated anti-India and communal content, and encouraged others to join such channels. A mobile phone has been seized from his possession as evidence.The SP said the accused has been sent to jail after interrogation by the district police and central agencies.The latest arrest comes less than a week after Bihar Police arrested a youth Mohammad Saddam from the Tarapur area of Munger district on July 6 over alleged cross-border connections. That arrest was also based on intelligence inputs, with investigators probing suspected links with foreign-based handlers and activities considered a threat to national security. Investigators believe Saddam had been in contact with a cross-border handler identified as “Rana Bhai”.
