Six teenagers charged after armed robberies across Melbourne

Police have arrested and charged six teenagers as part of an investigation into a spate of armed robberies across Melbourne.

It has been alleged the six males were involved in stealing a car in Hawthorn in Melbourne’s east on Saturday, July 11 before then committing multiple armed robberies.

Calls were made to police about a car driving erratically, stopping and starting in the Springvale area just after 2pm.

Armed robberies were reported at businesses at Keysborough just after 11.30am, at Noble Park just before midday and at Moorabbin around 12.30 — with a machete alleged to have been used to make threats during the third incident.

Police said the vehicle was tracked through Moorabbin, Keysborough and then onto Eastlink and the Monash Freeway before a police vehicle boxed the allegedly stolen car off.

Police used OC (capsicum) spray inside the car, and all six males were arrested.

Those facing charges are aged 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18.

One male was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date, while the others are due to face the children’s court.
