Conor McGregor says the biggest waste of money in his career wasn’t a bad business bet or a boxing rematch that never happened, it was a $3.6 million (per Forbes) yacht built to look like his own supercar. The former UFC champ-champ admitted the purchase was reckless, pointing to it as the clearest sign of an era when he spent without thinking twice. The comment, shared in a recent post reflecting on his early spending habits, refers back to the Lamborghini 63 Yacht he took delivery of in 2021 after his UFC 264 injury. McGregor says the impulse buy still makes him wince now that he considers himself older and more careful with money.
Conor McGregor reveals his dumbest purchase
Conor McGregor didn’t dance around it. “I was reckless with my money, a lot of reckless spending for sure. I’m grown now, and I’m smart with it,” McGregor said, framing the yacht as a relic of a version of himself that spent freely and rarely looked back. He acknowledged the broader pattern too, admitting he was reckless with money for a long stretch of his career, a habit he says he’s since outgrown.

The Lamborghini 63 Yacht by Tecnomar is 63 feet long, holds two bedrooms and reportedly tops out around 69 miles per hour, courtesy of a 4,000-horsepower engine. McGregor worked directly with Tecnomar in October 2020 to customize the boat, watching it go from a scale model unveiled with his kids present to the full-sized vessel he now cruises. The interior mirrors a Lamborghini supercar down to the steering wheel, and McGregor has called it an impulse buy that still brings him real joy on the water. He’s not done chasing bigger boats either. Asked on X about owning a giga yacht, he said, “there are pros and cons to them,” noting he already rode one to Fight Island for a past fight.
Fans react to Conor McGregor Lamborghini Yacht
The admission didn’t go over quietly online. “You’re grown now? Dude was like 33 when he bought the yacht,” wrote @ShaunAdams_11. Others pushed back on the framing entirely. “Essentially bought a boat for ppl to say they like on social media. He doesn’t even like that boat lmao,” posted @vicdamonesports. Some found the self-awareness refreshing. “At least he’s honest. Not many people admit their biggest financial mistake publicly,” wrote @atrades06s. Others weren’t buying the redemption arc at all. “‘Im grown now’ = I spent it all,” joked @NickGer765973.Whether McGregor’s newfound financial restraint holds up is a separate question from whether he still wants a bigger boat. He’s already hinted a giga yacht isn’t off the table long term, which suggests the lesson from the Lamborghini yacht might be more about which purchases he regrets than about slowing down entirely.
