Joey King has just shaved all her hair off for a film role and this isn’t even the first time she’s taken the shears to her own scalp.
The Kissing Booth actor has officially said goodbye to her brunette locks in order to take part in true crime series The Act, and called the entire experience “freeing, fun and empowering.”
In an interview with Allure, she said: “I’ve never really had an attachment to my hair. I couldn’t care less what happens to it. ‘No part of me was nervous or was second-guessing it. So many people would ask me, “Are you really scared?” or “Are you nervous?” or say, “You’re so brave.” And I’d go, “I’m not brave, I’m just cutting my hair off.
“It’s not like they’re going to regret it 10 years down the line when their hair is long again. It’s something that’s very freeing, really fun, and really empowering.”
The 19-year-old will be playing Gypsy Rose Blancharde, a woman who pretended to have a terminal illness as a result of Munchausen by proxy. The real Gypsy is currently serving out a ten-year sentence in prison after killing her abusive mother.
For anyone who’d like some details on the last two times Joey shaved her head, she cut her own hair in 2014 movie Wish I Was Here and underwent a buzzcut for 2012 movie The Dark Knight Rises.
